The LattePanda IOTA single-board computer (SBC) introduces a distinctive dual-chip architecture, combining an Intel N150 processor (SoC) with a Raspberry Pi RP2040 microcontroller. In this design, the RP2040 is dedicated to GPIO control and power management, providing an additional layer of stability and efficiency for real-world embedded applications.
As a new SBC powered by the Intel N150, the LattePanda IOTA brings a notable hardware upgrade. It supports up to 16GB LPDDR5 memory and 128GB of onboard eMMC storage. With the integrated RP2040 handling I/O and system power regulation, developers gain more reliable GPIO performance and broader application flexibility.
This release represents a major leap from the original LattePanda V1 (2015), which paired an Intel Atom x5-Z8300/Z8350 “Cherry Trail” processor with an ATMega32U4 microcontroller. Compared to its predecessor, the IOTA delivers up to 7× faster processing, 4× larger memory capacity, double the storage, and adds Gigabit Ethernet support. At the same time, it preserves much of the V1’s physical layout for accessory compatibility, while introducing modern features such as a 16-pin PCIe interface, ECC memory, and Wake-on-LAN.

All expansion boards connect securely via PCIe or the 36-pin header, extending functionality as needed.
Compatibility Notes for LattePanda V1 Users
While backward compatibility is a focus, there are some key differences:
- MIPI DSI has been replaced by eDP (old displays are incompatible)
- Power requirements now demand USB PD adapters
- Thermal solution is mandatory for stable operation
- I/O logic voltage has changed from 5V (ATMega32U4) to 3.3V (RP2040)
DFRobot provides a migration guide to help V1 users transition smoothly.
